The Grand River Museum in Lemmon, SD is a creation based museum that houses dinosaur fossils dug up on the Cross S Ranch. Started by Lisa and Stuart Schmidt in 1998 the museum is open daily on Highway 12.

The Cowboy display in the museum is one of the favorites. It features cowboys like Charlie and Jim Clark whom live on the Grand River.

R.B. & Fran Wheeler

R.B. and Fran Wheeler both passed on in the last two months. They were great community leaders, benefactors to many good causes, and generous, loving, human beings. We don't have the space in this newsletter to list all of the accomplishments and awards that they have achieved throughout their lives but, we do want to acknowledge their huge contributions to the Grand River Museum. Bob and Fran made a commitment to each other in marriage 72 years ago and they also made a commitment to Lemmon 66 years ago. They had a heart for Lemmon and they have always worked to make the community better. When they found out we were interested in starting a museum that housed dinosaur fossils, they were very excited. They encouraged us and let us know that if we needed any help that they would be there for us. Many times, when the Museum needed a miracle to continue on, that miracle happened because of them. Through all the ups and downs of our museum experience, Bob and Fran were there. God was working through them, there was no doubt. They will be missed.

The museum has received many old photos from the members and guests. There is not always room to display them all, but we try to show a variety, and the displays change from time to time. Always check the museum's photo displays to see some very interesting memories from our area.
